Quizzes

The three Quizzes are each 20-minute closed-book test taken in your section meeting. Generally we expect that they will be given in the second half of your section meeting, from 8.55 to 9.15, or from 9.55 to 10.15. The use of calculators in quizzes is encouraged: a calculator performing addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and other basic arithmetical functions will be sufficient, but any calculator may be used. A caculator with a square-root function may be useful.

You must take your quiz in the section in which you are registered. Only students registered in that quiz section may attend that section on a quiz day.

Midterm Exam: Friday Feb 2, 8.30-9.20, 2007

A calculator (as in the above section) is recommended.

Each student may bring a single 8.5" by 11" sheet of paper with notes, possibly written on both sides, to the Midterm Exam. It may be hand-written, or typed, or word-processed, etc. .... but it is strongly recommended that you prepare your own sheet of notes (perhaps working with your peers).
Preparing your sheet of notes is a very useful revision tool.

Note that last year's exam was 2 weeks later and so went through all of regression: we have not yet done the material for question 4 -- it is here as a preview for Quiz-2 on Feb 15.
