Darryl Holman's Research

Darryl Holman's Research and Collaborations in Japan

Robert E. Jones, Kyoko Yamaguchi and I have been investigating human variation in deciduous tooth emergence ( more information). One of the populations included in our studies is from rural Japan. The Japanese children (residents of Tokyo) were investigated prospectively in 1910 and 1920.

Results from these studies are found in Holman and Yamaguchi (2004), Holman and Jones (1998, 2003).

Kyoko and I have also examined the effects of infant and childhood health and breastfeeding on permanent tooth emergence in these children (Yamaguchi and Holman (2005).
