The main objective of any seminar is to provide the opportunity to explore in depth a collection of given issues primarily by critically examining original journal articles.

 

In this course, the specific objectives are to review the fundamental issues surrounding the use of medications in treating mental disorders. This would include a review of basic pharmacology, and neurophysiology, and a review of the medication practices currently used in treatment of mental disorders. Medication topics would include medications used for treating depression, anxiety, psychoses, medications used in pediatrics behavioral conditions, medications for sleep disorders and eating disorders, as well as other topics related to altering consciousness.
