2. NEUROSCIENCE FOR KIDS "SITE OF THE MONTH"

The Neuroscience for Kids "Site of the Month" for March is "Mentoring in Neuroscience Discovery at Sinai (MiNDS)" at:

https://www.mindatsinai.com/

MiNDS is a web site with lessons and activities about neuroscience for young children that is a great site to explore before, during and after this month's Brain Awareness Week. Visit "Lessons," under "Education and Media" for five simple lessons about the brain, neurons and the senses. Turn to the "Brain Facts" section of the site for some easy-to-understand information about neuroscience and brain myths. Another great feature of MiNDS is the archived videos and podcasts including materials that were created for past Brain Awareness Weeks.

If you are in New York, stop by MiNDS Brain Awareness Week activities (https://www.mindatsinai.com/brain-awareness-week-events): The Brain Fair on March 14, 2023; the Friedman Brain Institute Special Lecture on March 16, 2023; Brain-Body Special Lecture on March 17, 2023.

B. Scientists have found the fossilized brain of a fish that is approximately 319 million years old (Source: Figueroa, R.T., et al., Exceptional fossil preservation and evolution of the ray-finned fish brain. Nature (2023). https://doi.org/10.1038/s41586-022-05666-1).
