Colleagues

We expect that there will be a merit-based salary increase opportunity for professional staff this year, and although we do not yet know the scale of the increase, I wish to initiate the review process.

The CFR policy for salary increases for professional staff was first distributed on February 11, 2003 and, with few changes, remains operative. To be eligible for a merit increase, the staff member must:

  • Have received a performance evaluation on or after July 1, 2006 ( sample formats are available)
  • Have been judged meritorious in this review
  • Have been permanently employed by the College for a sufficient period to have displayed meritorious performance, in most cases employed on or before January 1, 2007
  • Have not had a recent merit increase from another process. Pending in-grade or reclassification applications will be handled on a case by case basis.

All professional staff, regardless of source of funding, are subject to average (by funding type) increase limits ultimately set by the University of Washington. Supervisors of non-state funded professional staff must ensure that funding sources are sufficient to cover all salary increases.

Supervisors should forward a copy of performance reviews, along with their merit salary recommendations, for each professional staff employee supervised, to Beverly Anderson by June 1, 2007, for the Dean's final approval. Please direct questions to her at 5-2047 or bja@u.washington.edu.

We will update you as information becomes available.
