January 23, 2007

Colleagues,

In anticipation of the next opportunity to recruit new faculty to the College of Forest Resources, we would like to repeat the "faculty portfolio" process that we completed several years ago in 2002. During that process we identified 14 different positions ( noted herein), several of which have been filled, or are in the process of being filled since that exercise in 2002.

In the process of developing a revised faculty portfolio, please use the attached form for the purpose of identifying expertise that you believe is important to the future of the College. After the proposals are received, the faculty will be asked to rank the proposals for consideration by the Dean of the College of Forest Resources. Proposals may be prepared by individual faculty, by graduate interest areas, or whatever other coalition may emerge to support new faculty expertise. So that we may complete this process in a timely manner, proposals are due in the Chair's office by Monday March 5th, 2007.

While not the definitive portrayal of where existing faculty expertise lies, I have attempted to list faculty by various disciplinary areas and by interest groups to provide some indication of our current strengths. This inventory is also attached. Obviously some double listing occurs.

Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you for your thoughtful and thorough contributions to this important exercise.

Gordon Bradley, Faculty Chair
