He is Professor of Architecture at the University of Washington with Adjunct appointments in Landscape Architecture, in Urban Design and Planning and in Digital Arts and Experimental Media. He is also Member of the South Asia Program in the Jackson School of International Studies.<\/p>\n<p>Vikram received his B. Arch. from Chandigarh College of Architecture, Punjab University, India, and his M.A. and PhD in History of Architecture and Urbanism from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY.<\/p>\n<p>Vikram invests in transdisciplinarity. He works on issues of modernism, postcoloniality, global history and fashion &amp; architecture. His books include\u00a0<em>Chandigarh\u2019s Le Corbusier: The Struggle for Modernity in Postcolonial India<\/em>, <em>A Global History of Architecture<\/em>\u00a0(with Francis DK Ching &amp; Mark Jarzombek),\u00a0<em>Colonial Modernities<\/em>\u00a0(co-edited with Peter Scriver),\u00a0<em>The Architecture of Shivdatt Sharma<\/em>, <em>Chandigarh: An Architectural Guide,<\/em>\u00a0<em>One Continuous Line: Art, Architecture and Urbanism of Aditya Prakash<\/em>\u00a0and <em>A House Deconstructed <\/em>(with Mark Jarzombek). <em>A Global History<\/em>\u00a0is used as a textbook over 50 institutions and being translated into five languages.<\/p>\n<p>Vikram is Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Built Environments. He previously served as Associate Dean for External Affairs, Chair of Architecture and Director of Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Programs. He also\u00a0directed\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/chandigarhurbanlab.org\/\">Chandigarh Urban Lab,<\/a>\u00a0a series of interdisciplinary international studios.<\/p>\n<p>Vikram is co-PI (with Mark Jarzombek, MIT) of three successive grants of $1.0 million (2014), $1.5 million (2016) and $1.0 million (2019) awarded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. These resulted in the creation of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/gahtc.org\/\">GAHTC<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 a collective of over 200 teachers of global architectural history.<\/p>\n<p>Vikram is host of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/architecturetalk.org\/\">ArchitectureTalk<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 a bi-weekly podcast based on curated conversations with invited guests. To date ArchitectureTalk received over 225,000 unique downloads and has been independently reviewed by <em>The American Scholar.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Vikram is co-design lead of the OUR: <a href=\"http:\/\/officeofuncertaintyresearch.org\/\">Office of Uncertainty Research<\/a>. OUR iexhibited in the 2021 Venice Architecture Biennale, and the 2021 and 2023 European Cultural Center <em>Space Time Existence\u00a0<\/em>exhibits in Venice.<\/p>\n<p>Vikram was recognized as \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acsa-arch.org\/awards_archives\/2020-architectural-education-award-winners\/#dp\">ACSA Distinguished Professor<\/a> by the Association of Collegiate Schools of
