Practicing at Timberline

Practicing at Timberline

We arrived at Timberline Lodge, high on Mt. Hood, a 4 hour drive from Seattle at about 3 p.m. Tyler had never climbed a mountain before, so Scott and Tom took him up on the snow fields above the lodge to practice crucial techniques. Tyler rapidly learned how to use his ice axe in self-arrest, walk with crampons and handle a rope.
