Ok, so the time has come for me to figure out the difference between these two.<\/p>\n

From the \u9055\u3044\u304c\u308f\u304b\u308b\u4e8b\u5178<\/a>:<\/p>\n

One can read a book while lying down (\u5bdd\u305f\u307e\u307e) but not while sleeping (\u7720\u3063\u305f\u72b6\u614b).<\/p>\n

The focus of \u5bdd\u308b is on the fact that one’s body is lying down; hence the opposite is \u8d77\u304d\u308b (to get up).<\/p>\n

The focus of \u7720\u308b is on one’s eyes being closed and being unconscious\/asleep; the opposite is \u899a\u3081\u308b (to wake up).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From the \u77e5\u6075\u888b<\/a>:<\/p>\n

The main senses of \u5bdd\u308b are: to sleep; to lie down; to sleep with someone; to be confined (by illness) to bed.<\/p>\n

The main senses of \u7720\u308b are: to reduce activity and fall unconscious; to be inactive; to die.<\/p>\n

In both cases the first sense is shared between the two terms, while the remaining senses are specific to the given word.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
