Theo Eicher Ph.D. Committee Guidelines

1.   Student checks in at least once a quarter with a meaningful/detailed academic progress report.

2.   Two quarters without progress reports (Summer is a quarter) and without excuse force me to resign from committees.

3.   If I provide comments, the next time the student checks in with me, the progress report includes

o    A detailed response to my comments

o    References to the locations in the new work that reflect my comments / if they exist.

4.   Before the General is scheduled, I receive a draft of what will be covered

5.   3 weeks before the General, I receive all materials for the exam and a polished slide deck

6.   3 weeks before writing job market recommendations, I receive a polished job market paper.

7.   Before scheduling a Final, I receive a draft of what will be covered

8.   3 weeks before the Final, I receive all final materials and a copy of a polished slide deck.

Exemptions for any of the above rules are possible after one-on-one conversations.
