October 22: Fluid Signs and Family Love This is the first week where we have a split schedule. Half of you will read Fluid Signs and Trawick's chapter on Desire, and half of you will read Notes on Love in a Tamil Family, and Daniel's Introduction. These will give you, for the first time, a more explicit view of the way that two very talented anthropologists have used theory in writing ethnography. You should post your comments in the style and intended for the audience of a scholarly journal. This may be a review of one book or a comparison of both. October 24: Create your own discussions To be announced. As with any of the works we read from here on out, reviews should be accessible through the UW Library's electronic journal archives of various sorts. You've probably done this before, but if you haven't, it's best to start out with the research databases page, and type in authors, titles, etc. You'll find stuff. |
