Class Readings and Plans for Tuesday, November 3
Water

Class Plan
We will divide the class into two groups. The first group will read three articles (and skim a fourth) on the historical ecology of water in the prehistoric American Southwest, and the second group will read three articles (and skim a fourth) on the recent historical ecology of water in China.

By 9:00 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, you should post a comment about how the phenomena you read about in your case study relate to Ostrom's discussion of common property rights regimes and/or to ideas of resilience and vulnerability discussed in many of the readings for earlier classes.

Readings

Group 1: American Southwest Prehistory Case

Group 2: Recent Chinese Historical Case
