Cut out six photographs, drawings, cartoons, or other images from contemporary newspapers or magazines, or print them off from websites. At least three of these images should illustrate what you see as present-day American cultural ideas about femaleness, and three should illustrate maleness. If you want them to overlap, that is fine: all six could illustrate both, but in any case there should be a minimum of three for each gender.

Attach each of these images to a piece of paper on which is printed (preferred) or written in clear handwriting your analysis of what this image says about ideas of maleness or femaleness in American culture today.

Due in section 2, week 5, May 1 or 2.

Special bonus: Each section leader will pick the single best image from his or her class, and the five images will be posted on the class website. The 5 winners will each receive 2 extra points on their cumulative class grade.
