Genetically Engineered Plants to Remove and Degrade Gaseous Gaseous Pollutants in Indoor Air

We are developing and testing plants designed to remove and destroy all of the most important gaseous home air pollutants; carcinogens such as benzene, formaldehyde and chloroform. A conventional houseplant, pothos ivy, has been modified and we are working to select the best transformed lines for propagation. We are also working on increasing the detoxifying activity of plants using hybridization, so that compact biofiltration minigreenhouses can be constructed using our plants enhanced.
