Downloading
and Installing Fonts
The instructions below are for Windows users. I am unable to instruct
Mac users, but I assume that since everything is easier on a Mac, no instructions
will be needed.
- Downloading.
The font you most likely need is Lucida Bright Math Symbol. To download
it, click on its name in the font list below. Do not attempt to open
the file (LMATH1.TTF). Instead, save it to a removable disk or to a
known location on your hard drive (e.g., the Desktop).
- Installation.
Open the Control Panel and click on Fonts. Then click on File and select
Install New Font. Choose the location where you saved the font and click
on the font or fonts you have downloaded. Click on OK to install.
- Available
fonts: In addition to Lucida Bright Math Symbol, I have included
a few other fonts that you might also need to display special symbols
used on this web site. For purposes of reading the practice quizzes,
only the first should be required. The Symbol font should already be
on your computer (it is included with Windows), but I have included
it here in case it is not.
- Firefox
users:
If you are using Firefox as your browser, the symbols may still not appear correctly
even after these fonts have been installed on your computer. If this is happening to you,
try using a different browser (e.g., Chrome or Internet Explorer). The problem should disappear.
