I have been growing orchids for about 20 years. My main interest is any orchid species. However, I do prefer smaller species because I only have 6x8 greenhouse. I do grow a few hybrids that have attractive flowers. This list is sorted according to their genus. I also grow some carnivorous plants and cacti that you can find at the bottom of the list. Enjoy!

Bulbophyllum dayanum
This particular bulbophyllum has purple colored pseudobulbs and leaves. Pictures were taken on: 04-02-06, Origin: Thailand, Myanamr and Kampuchea.
It was obtained as an adult plant. It has a creepy looking hairy flowers. It's a slow grower and seems to like moist condition. Dryness will stunt new growth. Pot size is about 4".

Coelogyne cristata
Large flower Coelogyne species. Pictures were taken on: 02-01-05, Origin: India.
It was obtained as an adult plant. The pseudobulbs that you see are ~1.5". Many large flowers with a pretty combination of white and yellow hair.

Dendrobium senile
This mini dendrobium has hairy stems, that's why they call it "senile." Flower is very showy yellow with greenish lip. Pictures were taken on: 06-18-05, Origin: Thailand.
It was obtained as an adult plant. When the pseudobulbs mature, they loss their leaves, but the hair stays. This picture shows the whole plant with its two flowers. Pot size: 2-3".

Laelia briegeri
This is one of the rupiculous Laelia. Pictures were taken on: 07-27-05, Origin: Brazil, Minas Gerais.
It was obtained an adult plant, and it is about 5-6" tall with thick leaves above the pseudobulbs. I like its showy bright yellow flowers.

Paphiopedilum rothschildianum
Clone: Chester Hill (AM/AOS) x Janet (FCC/AOS), Pictures were taken on: 07-10-05, Origin: Borneo.
I purchased the seedling in 1998, it was about a third of the current size. The flower has a cool looking hairy staminode.

Renanthera Brookie Chandler x Phalaenopsis philippinensis
I have always wanted to grow a renanthopsis (renanthera x phalaenopsis). Finally, I found one on a trip to Florida. This one is a cross between Renanthera Brookie Chandler and Phalaenopsis philippinensis. One of the parent of Brookie Chandler is the small growing renanthera monachica. Monachica has orange with red dots flowers. A lot of the traits of R. monachica are expressed on the flower of this renanthopsis. The phalaenopsis parent helps to give the round shape of the flower. Pictures were taken on: 3-20-05, Origin: SE Asia. This plant grows fine in my intermediate greenhouse.

Sophronitis cernua
Pictures were taken on: 12-16-04, Origin: Brazil to NE. Argentina.
It was obtained as an adult plant, it is a tiny plant, pseudobulb + leave is about 1.5" long. Flower is < 1 cm across. I like its bright orange color. It's a reliable winter bloomer

Sophronitis coccinea
Pictures were taken on: 09-21-05, Origin: Brazil to Argentina.
It was obtained as compots, and they are still growing in the orginal pot, it is a tiny plant, for size comparison, the pot is a 2" pot. Its flower is larger than cernua's. I also like its bright orange color.

Cephalotus follicularis "Hummer's Giant"
Cephalotus follicularis is a carnivour from Aussie. It's very cute, unusual and scary looking at the same time. I grow 3 different varieties. The one pictured here is the "Hummer's Giant." This particular one grows slower and more difficult to establish than my other varieties, but it has larger pitchers. This picture and this picture show the comparison between the pitcher and half-dollar coin.
