Specifically, those of you who use LaTeX are very likely to be using the article style/class. We would like you to use a slightly modified class that I enclose below. I believe that those using LaTeX article style will have very little to no trouble converting---it only involves changing the \documentclass line of your main file and moving some of the acknowledgment/affiliation stuff around.

I decided **not** to attach all of the files, as I am one of those people who are not fond of attachments :)---you can get them directly from http://cis.poly.edu/~aronov/volume. (The web site will also have any announcements or updates of the files, should they become necessary.) I did include a README that should be fairly self-explanatory, a sample paper (sample.tex) and the style/class file volume.cls to be used instead of article.cls. Some sample figure files are also enclosed.

Please let me know if you have any question or problems, especially if you discover that my LaTeX files do not do what's expected of them.

--Boris Aronov

PS. Let me also take this opportunity to mention that some of you have optimistically promised a submission in June, and we are currently in July. Yes, it's a hint :)

PPS. This e-mail was sent to everyone who, according to Janos' records, has promised (or vaguely promised) a paper, and Janos has not received it yet. My apologies if some of you received this msg in error.

PS. If you want me to send the files directly to you, please let me know. Please also mention if you can handle the package in a .zip format, if you know what that is.

--Multipart_Sun_Jul__8_14:43:53_2001-1
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII
Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="README"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

Sun Jul 8 13:10:08 EDT 2001

Files in the package.

README --- the file you are reading
figure1.ps --- a sample Encapsulated Postscript figure for an illustration

A more complicated illustration generated by XFig in the combined
LaTeX/Postscript format:

figure2.pstex --- The .pstex file is the Postsctipt part and
figure2.pstex_t --- .pstex_t is the LaTeX part.
sample.tex --- A sample LaTeX file showing how your article is
formatted. Very slightly different from how one
would prepate a generic LaTeX2e paper using
article.cls. To check how it works, just put it
into the same directory/folder as volume.cls and
                    run LaTeX on it.
volume.cls --- A first draft of the style that we want to follow
for the articles in the volume. Put it in the
same directory your paper is in.

Put all files in the same directory and run LaTeX on sample.tex.
Complain to me if there are any problems.

--Boris Aronov

--Multipart_Sun_Jul__8_14:43:53_2001-1--
