FRITO-LAY
FRITO-LAY
Frito-Lay is owned by the corporate giant, PepsiCo, Inc. Frito-Lay makes millions of dollars every year by manufacturing and selling products such as Doritos, Cheetos and Lay’s Potato Chips. In order to make these products, Frito-Lay must have a steady supply of raw materials, such as corn and potatoes. For Frito-Lay to be competitive in the marketplace, they must constantly work on having the best product available for their consumers while keeping costs low.
Corporations such as Frito-Lay must decide whether or not to use genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in their manufactured foods. In order to remain successful, Frito-Lay must find a way to keep both their consumers and investors happy with their products. One of the questions within the GMO debate is whether food corporations should be able to use these products as ingredients. As representatives of your player, you must research the economic benefits and drawbacks of using GMOs as ingredients. Consider how the proposed No GMO Bill would affect your interests as a corporation.
“For more than 75 years, we have enjoyed making the best snacks on earth, starting with simple, farm-grown ingredients.
And we're not stopping now. We continue to innovate, so we can provide tasty products that are good as well as fun.
And we're reducing our environmental footprint by conserving natural resources as well as harnessing renewable energy technology that reduces harmful emissions.
We know we still have a lot of work to do, but we’re up to the challenge. We've had a lot of good fun along the way, and we'll continue that as we look to the future.
Because that is what Frito-Lay is all about.”
