Kevin J. Laverty (Ph.D. UCLA), Assistant Professor of Management, is one of the founding faculty of the Business Administration program at the University of Washington, Bothell.

Kevin Laverty's research addresses economic and organizational dimensions of business strategy and strategy implementation. Subjects of current projects include international technology alliances, implementing the resource-based view of strategy, the effects of time and risk on decision making, and the value of market share. His publications include "Economic 'Short-Termism': The Debate, the Unresolved Issues, and the Implications for Management Practice and Research," in the Academy of Management Review, and "Roadblocks to Competitive Advantage: How organizational Constraints and Individual Decision Biases Hinder Investments in Strategic Assets" [with Russell W. Coff], forthcoming in the Journal of High Technology Management Research.

At the University of Washington, Bothell, Dr. Laverty teaches courses in International Management, Business Policy/Strategic Management, and Technology and Innovation Management. He also teaches Environmental Strategy in the University of Washington's Environmental Management Program.

In 1999, Dr. Laverty received the University of Washington's highest teaching honor, the Distinguished Teaching Award.

Dr. Laverty is a member of the Academy of Management, the Strategic Management Society, INFORMS, and the American Economic Association. His Ph.D. is from the John E. Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA.
