Fundamentals of Psychology Literature Review
A Library Workshop

Introduction

This tutorial was designed by UW librarians to illustrate literature review in Psychology. It is intended to provide you with a picture of the ways in which psychological research literature is developed, distributed, and archived, and should help you identify the role this literature plays in psychology research. It also briefly describes the place this literature occupies in the larger information environment.

Another purpose of the tutorial is to help you to better understand the literature you will search in databases like PsycINFO, Medline, and Social Work Abstracts. For help in developing effective strategies for searching these databases, consult a reference librarian in Suzzallo/Allen, Odegaard, Social Work, or Health Sciences Libraries.
