File: jmfuns.rda
file.exists function is stored in jmfuns.rda. It masks the
Base file.exists
function. The only difference from the Base function is that if file.exists is called while
working on one of JM's computers, it revises the path specification to make it
appropriate for the particular computer. For example, if jmfuns.rda is on the search path
and
file.exists(
"/myWork/data.set.1.dat" )
is called, then the file is redefined as "e:/myWork/data.set.1.dat"
on JM's laptop computer, and it is redefined as "b:/ab/john/myWork/data.set.1.dat"
on his mother's computer. On any computer that is not one that JM
habitually uses, file.exists
simply calls the Base file.exists
function.
file.exists( ... )
Use the dir.exists function to check for the existence of a directory. It is less fussy about the syntax of the path specification.
#-------------- The 'doc' bookmark highlights all of the documentation but not the function skeleton at the top of the file. Use rdocToString macro to convert documentation to an R string variable. Bkmk docStringsLoc = <\r\docstrings\> ---------------
