In addition to the effects that can be computed with Matlab, more complex models can be created such to include entry effects and heat transfer. For the Matlab simulations, we assumed that the flow is fully developed. However, depending on the geometry of the channel, it may take a significant distance before flow is fully developed. Using FIDAP (on the following page), models can be created to determine the channel length required for fully developed flow. Using this information, the catalyst can be placed at a specific distance away from the entry to ensure the highest efficiency.  To determine the heat transfer in the solid, the PDE toolbox in Matlab can be used.
