WALS chapter presentation guidelines
The goal of this discussion is for us to get a sense of the
kinds of features studied in WALS and how the surveys were carried out,
while also considering how the information might be useful in
compling applications. Each presentation should take about 10 minutes,
including discussion.
Each presentation should address the following points:
- What is the feature studied? How is it specifically defined?
- What are the possible values found for the feature?
- What, if any, were the prominent characteristics of the distribution of values across languages?
- What kind of computational linguistics application might need to know about this feature?
