Homework 3: due 1/28 (Wed)
        Read: C&B 8.1, 8.3.2
        Exercises: 8.22, 8.23, 8.25, 8.26 (a),(b) and
                    1996 Stat513 final exam , #2.
        (Ignore the fact that 8.25 (a) and 8.26 (a) appear to be about 
         composite hypotheses -- it does not matter.
         Ignore the fact that C&B call the best test UMP even when
         H_1 is simple. )

     *In 10.1, do ONLY  alpha = 0.1, case (a)  b=c=1,
         and in (c) the power function for this same case.
         i.e. do only 2 graphs, not nine!

Homework 7; due Friday 3/6
         Read  7.2.3, 8.2.3, first parts of 9.2.4, 10.3.2
         Exercises 7.24, 7.25, 10.11,
             1996 Stat513 midterm , #3.
             1997 Stat513 final exam , #4.
        
      Subject: hwk 7 modification

      Looks like we will not really get to 10.11 before Friday.
      So, postpone exercise 10.11 to homework 8.
      Do exercise            7.26  instead

      It is recommended that even those who are not planning on doing
      homework 8 be sure to take a look at exercise 10.11 next week.

      Leave the final bit of the exam question about Bayesian confidence
      interval for next week also.

Homework 8; due 3/13
      Reading: the bits from homework 7 that you did not do yet.
      Final part (iv) of exam question, about Bayesian credible interval.
