Grades The grade for the course is the sum of two parts: Grade = A + X A = weighted average of quizzes, tests, and final exam, normalized over 4. The relative weights are: X = conditional amount based primarily on homework, provided A > 2.0 and the homework average is not less than 50%. As an indication, a grade of 4.0 is obtained with A = 3.7, and a homework average of 90% or higher. |

Homework A set of problems is assigned Monday of each week as indicated in Class Schedule.The assignment is due at the start of class on the Monday of the following week. Requirements:
Use 8.5 x 11 paper, preferably engineering paper. Writing must be neat and readable. Homework is graded by teaching assistants, and is returned in the tutorial sessions.Special circumstances about late homework should be discussed with a teaching assistant. Solutions to assigned problems are reached through a link in Home Page. |

The tutorial sessions are meant to complement the lectures in providing a different learning environment and to help with homework problems. Quizzes and tests are also given during the tutorial sessions. Tutorial notes are posted weekly. Students should print out these notes, and examine the questions they contain prior to the tutorial session. The main activities in a tutorial session are to:
