| Engineering Study Center Message
from:
Dave Drischell, Academic Adviser
University of Washington
College of Engineering
My office (www.engr.washington.edu/score)
provides support services to pre-engineering students primarily through
advising, information sessions, what do engineers do workshops,
informational quarterly events, etc.
We also provide academic support for pre-engineering students. As you may
or may not know, the College has a pre-engineering advising and student
center in 301 Loew where the pre's can attend workshops, meet with an
adviser, and study. The space has a number of tables, overhead projector,
white boards, etc.
This autumn, we have set aside Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:00
to 6:00 p.m. in 301 Loew specifically for students to gather, study, and
work through assignments in the engineering fundamental courses, 210, 220,
230, and 260. The study center website is
www.engr.washington.edu/score/studycenter.html. (The page will
be updated next week to reflect the autumn quarter dates/times).
We have found that if students work together, ask questions, and utilize
faculty and TA office hours, their chances of being successful in a course
increases (along with, of course, paying attention in class, prioritizing
and managing their time, etc).
