GFO Curriculum Committee Process, Timeline, and Deadlines
Timeline and deadlines (for new course prefixes, new courses,
course changes, non-substantive program changes)
Process Big Picture:
- New courses, course changes, new prefixes, and non-substantive
program changes are created for existing programs.
- Materials are developed and approved by appropriate program faculty.
- Materials reviewed by GFO curriculum committee.
- Approved submissions are signed by the GFO curriculum committee
chair and then by chancellor's office and forwarded to Seattle
curriculum committee.
- When approved, documentation is updated appropriately.
Time Line Big Picture:
- The GFO curriculum committee usually meets once a month
in conjunction with the Seattle curriculum meetings
(only during the academic year).
- All programs must get any necessary forms, memos, supporting materials
to the GFO Coordinator by the first of the month.
The committee initially receives all forms and syllabi electronically.
- The GFO curriculum committee meets during the month
with the intention of getting all materials to Seattle
by the first of the next month (their deadline).
For new courses, programs should get forms to the curriculum committee
two quarters in advance so that a Schedule Line Number (SLN) can
be assigned before student registration.
For example, a form for a new course starting in:
     
Autumn quarter MUST get to curriculum committee before the
end of the previous winter quarter;
     
Winter quarter MUST get to curriculum committee before the
end of the previous spring quarter;
     
Spring quarter MUST get to curriculum committee before the
end of the previous autumn quarter.
