CSS 427 includes both lectures and labs.
In Autumn 2020, the lectures will be offered online via Zoom, and the labs will be offered online via Zoom and in-person through scheduled meetings.
The embedded system lab, UW1-321B, only has 12 stations, which can support 24 students to work in the lab.
Due to COVID-19, however, 6-feet social distancing shall be maintained; as a result, only 12 or less students can work in the lab at the same time.
To follow the UW policy during COVID-19 and accormadate personal health issues, CSS 427 lab in Autumn 2020 will be offered online via Zoom and in-person through scheduled meetings.
Here is the plan for the lab and project assignments.

- Two students will form a team to work on the course project. Studnets may choose the best way to collaborate.
- During the regular lab time - Friday morning, the instructor will be available online and answer lab and project related questions.
- Via appointment, the instructor will also meet with students in lab to address lab and project related issues that cannot be addressed remotely.
- Students will meet with the instructor during the 4th or 5th week to collect newly purchased materials for the project.
- The instructor will schedule bi-weekly on-campus meetings with students or teams that need consistent help.
