PHIL 437A:  READING ASSIGNMENTS

 

Reading assignments are taken from the two course texts:  (1) T:  David Hume, A Treatise of Human Nature (Oxford Philosophical Texts), David F. Norton and Mary J. Norton, eds., and (2) CC:  David Norton, Cambridge Companion to Hume.  All readings should be done before class on Tuesday of the week they are assigned.

 

Week 1 (Oct. 1):  Introduction

Week 2 (Oct 6-8):  The Mind

Week 3 (Oct. 13-15):  Causation and Belief

Week 5 (Oct. 27-29): Other Kinds of Skepticism, Especially about Personal Identity
