DUE IN SECTION ON WEDNESDAY OCT. 3.

NOTE:  To receive full credit, you must attend class ready to discuss the homework (unless your absence is excused).  Do not skip section or come late to section in order to finish your homework.  If you do, you will receive an extra penalty on your grade for the assignment.

            Answer both parts:

            (a) Give an example not given in class of top-down moral reasoning.  Identify the moral principle or moral norm involved and the particular moral judgment involved in the reasoning and explain why the reasoning is top-down.

            (b) Give an example not given in class of bottom-up moral reasoning.  Identify the particular moral judgment and identify a moral norm or moral principle that is either supported or undermined by the particular moral judgment.  Explain why the reasoning is bottom-up.

NOTE THAT A DIAGRAM BY ITSELF DOES NOT INDICATE WHETHER THE REASONING IS TOP-DOWN OR BOTTOM-UP.  YOU MUST TELL A STORY THAT INTERPRETS THE DIAGRAM AND MAKE IT CLEAR IN THE STORY WHAT THE REASONING STARTS FROM AND WHAT THE RESULT OF THE REASONING IS.
