Survey Presentations
Each of you will survey and present the literature related to information
behavior of one of the following types of people:
- Physicians
- Nurses
- Medical students
- Nursing students
- Patients
- Health researchers
- Biomedical researchers
- Other professionals or students (discuss with me)
You might find that you need to scope your survey to a particular type of
person (e.g., community health nurses, primary care physicians) or to a subset
of information behavior (e.g., information sharing, use, seeking, giving, or
needs).
Your specific tasks are to:
- email your topic choice to me by Thursday, April 10th. If, as you
search for papers over the next couple weeks, you discover that your choice is
too broad or too narrow or just wrong, send me email as soon as possible and we can talk about how to fix it.
- prepare a list of the papers that you plan to use in your survey (5-8
papers total)
- select one good paper for the class to read
- submit the list of papers and a complete copy of the one for class to me,
by Tuesday April 29th
- prepare slides for a 50-minute presentation (includes discussion time).
You are welcome (but not required) to include class exercises, and use
alternative media such as video.
- review and incorporate
presentation tips
- email me a copy of your presentation slides at least 9 days before your
presentation
- make an appointment with me to go over your slides at least 7 days before
your presentation
- either email a copy of your complete bibliography to the course mailing
list or bring 9 copies to class with you
No written document (other than your slides) is necessary.
I and your fellow students will evaluate your survey presentation based on
this evaluation form.
