Symmetry
possibilities
For
most ages you can start with mirror puzzles (and I am willing to loan you my
book to make copies of other puzzles if you sign in blood that you will return
it). From there you can go to line and rotational symmetry and do some of the
things in the book, or do something like ¤17.1 LE 17, which is all about line
symmetry.
Or
you can take children on a ÒSymmetry WalkÓ around the room (small children; bad
weather) or around the neighborhood (any size children, good weather)
Or
you can do some paper-folding and cutting activities, but make sure they retain
cognitive demand (for instance, showing a design you have cut after folding the
paper in four and get them to try to duplicate it)
There
are other possibilities Ð check with me if there is something you would like to
use.
