Ottoman Lyric Poetry: An Anthology

This anthology co-authored by Walter, Mehmet Kalpakli, and Najaat Black combines English translations of 75 Ottoman poems with brief descriptions of key themes, illustrative reproductions of miniatures, extensive notes, original texts in romanized transcription, and biographical information about the poets. It is intended for general audiences, students, and specialists in descending order. The original University of Texas edition is now out-of-print but The University of Washington Press has issued a new expanded edition, which includes samples of Ottoman script versions--manuscript, lithograph, and printed--of some of the texts.
