You have reached the website of Jessica Torrey. Jessica is a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Washington working in the field of Materials Science and Engineering. She received her PhD in 2006 from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA, and her BS in ceramic engineering in 2002 from Alfred University in Alfred, NY. Jessica's research interests include the processing, characterization, and application of polymer derived ceramics (PDCs). Her most recent project at the University of Erlangen in Germany, as an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow, focused on using PDCs to construct macro-scale transparent foam scaffolds for TiO2 nanoparticles. These systems were then tested for their ability to purify water via UV photocatalysis.

Jessica is currenty working on direct deposition of semiconductor nanostructures via Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) Lithography in the Rolandi group at UW-MSE.
