We study development and regeneration and focus on the neural retina in mice and humans. One of the questions we are currently working on has to do with the nature of developmental time; we are also studying the mechanisms of cell fate determination and the role of microglia in developing retina. We are also working to create new methods for regenerating and reconstructing the damaged the retina, using stem cell and reprogramming approaches.
