Your final proposal should consist of the following sections:
Abstract: In one page or less, give the major points of what you plan to do, why it is significant, and how you plan to do it.
Background: In 2-3 pages, put your proposal into the context of the general problem it addresses, as well as previous work on the topic
Specific Research Questions: in 2-3 pages, lay out the particular questions you hope to answer through this research, relate them to the background issues discussed in the previous section, and state the significance or contribution that your own research will make
Research Methods: in 3-4 pages, say exactly what you are going to do, where and when. This should include not only the particular methods you are going to use to gather data, but the numbers of subjects or samples, how they are selected, etc. This section should give the reader a clear idea of exactly what you are going to do
Data analysis and writeup: in 1-2 pages, state how you are going to analyze and write up the data you have collected
Budget: Estimate the costs of each part of your research: travel, lodging, and food; equipment and supplies; hourly help if needed, etc.
Your final proposal is due to Steve at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8.
