Hi, I am a postdoc in the Biomolecular Structure Center at the University
of Washington in Seattle. I am working with Ron Stenkamp in a co-operation
with Pat Stayton's group in the Department of Bioengineering.
My home town is Hameln - the city of rats
and pied pipers - a nice old town in Germany.
Starting out as a chemist I studied at the Georg-August Universität in
Göttingen. My phD supervisor was George Sheldrick (author of the SHELX program system) and I
learned a lot about crystallography - however I was also synthesizing my own
organometallic compounds and characterized them with various methods.
Now I am working in the field of protein crystallography:

The streptavidin-biotin complex is an
interesting model system for studying
high affinity protein- ligand interactions.
More about my project.
