My research interests include current projects on the following subjects:

  • Microbial processes for remediation of organic contaminants of groundwater, soil and sediment.
  • The uses of plants, both natural and transgenic, for phytoremediation of contaminated environments.
  • Biological wastewater treatment processes, especially estrogenic compound removal.
  • Methods for controlling greenhouse gases.
My funding sources include grants from NSF, DOE, DoD, NIEHS, EPA, and private industry.

I collaborate on the above projects and others with faculty in the College of Forest Resources (Prof. S. Doty), Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (Profs. H.D. Stensel, J. Ferguson, and D. Stahl).

My vita, including a publication list, can be accessed here.

I teach one course:

Bioremediation Engineering, CEE 498F, 599F, and ESRM 490E, on the engineering priciples, mechanisms, and biochemical basis of microbial and plant processes of hazardous substance transformations in the environment.

My personal interests include unusual bicycles. Click here to see how I commute.
