On April 24th, the College of the Environment and UW Libraries are co-hosting two visiting scholars: Heather Piwowar from National Evolutionary Synthesis Center, and Jason Priem from UNC-Chapel Hill. Both are working at the forefront of tracking scholarly impact online, through such tools as ImpactStory. Here’s another article about this work, often referred to as “altmetrics”. We are excited to bring these researchers to campus to engage in a conversation about the tools and best practices that faculty and students can use to identify and monitor the impacts of their research online.
As part of their visit, Heather and Jason will be speaking on the topic of “Altmetrics, web-native scholarship, and the next scholarly revolution”,from 10am to 11am, in the Odegaard Undergraduate Library, room 220. All are welcome to attend!
They will also be providing a short workshop on ImpactStory, from 11:15am to 12:00pm at the Suzzallo Instruction Lab (in the back of the room to your left as you enter Suzzallo from Red Square). Space is limited. Please RSVP!
