{"id":45,"date":"2013-10-16T23:41:55","date_gmt":"2013-10-16T23:41:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/faculty.washington.edu\/smgard\/wordpress\/?page_id=45"},"modified":"2023-12-08T05:18:33","modified_gmt":"2023-12-08T05:18:33","slug":"teaching","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/faculty.washington.edu\/smgard\/wordpress\/teaching\/","title":{"rendered":"Teaching"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Steve teaches at all levels of the curriculum, from large introductory lecture courses to graduate seminars.<\/p>\n<p>Recent offerings include: <em>Ethics and Climate Change<\/em> (PHIL 416\/ENVIR 416), <em>Ethics, Science and Geoengineering<\/em> (PHIL 417\/ENVIR 417),\u00a0<em>Contemporary Political Philosophy<\/em> (PHIL 410),<em> Global Justice<\/em> (PHIL 407), <em>Virtue Ethics<\/em> (PHIL 401), <em>Environmental Ethics<\/em> (PHIL 301),\u00a0<em>An Introduction to Ethics<\/em> (PHIL 240), <em>An Introduction to Environmental Ethics<\/em> (PHIL 243\/ENVIR 243), \u00a0<em>Justice Matters<\/em> (ETHICS 512), and graduate seminars on <em>Climate Justice<\/em>, \u00a0and\u00a0<em>Justice and Future Generations<\/em>\u00a0(PHIL 510). \u00a0He has also co-taught courses with Tom Ackerman (Atmospheric Sciences), Michael Blake (Philosophy\/Public Affairs), Richard Gammon (Oceanography), and Mike Wallace (Atmospheric Sciences).<\/p>\n<p>In 2023 &amp; 2024, Steve is teaching a large introductory course in environmental ethics (ENVIR 243\/PHIL 243), an advanced undergraduate course on ethical theory (PHIL 440), an interdisciplinary graduate course on theories of justice (ETHICS 512), and a graduate seminar on climate justice (PHIL 510).
