Rembrandt’s Portrait of Aristotle



Rembrandt’s “Aristotle Contemplating the Bust of Homer” was painted in 1653. There is no reason to think Aristotle looked anything like this. He almost certainly didn’t dress like this. But it’s still a great painting.
