I have
just read an article on the web regarding your dislike of the Microsoft grammar
checker and I feel compelled to email you.
I cannot
believe you are claiming or even considering that the poor grammar exhibited by
your students is the responsibility of Microsoft.
Here's a
great idea - instead of instilling values in your students that allow them to
blame a writing aid (which personally I find extremely useful) for their
inability to quality check their work, why not instil a value that tells them
THEY are responsible for ensuring their work is correct, of acceptable quality
and free from grammatical errors. You never know, a good command of the English
language may even stand them in good stead later in their careers.
