Course Description
Wherever the
land meets the water is a place rich in biological diversity and natural
resources. Accordingly, the coastal zone
is a magnet for people and serves as the frontline of human/nature
interactions. This course focuses on the
processes responsible for the form and evolution of the coastal zone and the methods
used to study those processes. We will
also investigate the unique features, hazards, and environmental problems of
coastal ecosystems worldwide and evaluate the ramifications for human security
and prosperity as we love the coast to death.
Special emphasis will be placed on characterizing the nature and future
