Ethics and Philosophy of Knowledge Management
This minitrack is founded on the belief that we have hardly begun to tap the potential of philosophy and ethics in our work on knowledge management (KM), especially in developing a more robust foundation for what we do. The objective is to explore how ethics and philosophy have been used as reference disciplines for knowledge management research and to foster the development of a "ethical philosophy of knowledge management technology.” Understanding and managing the ethical implications of KM-related technology is increasingly a vital issue, and accordingly, it seems appropriate that we turn to philosophy as a way of understanding these issues in the context of knowledge management systems.
Possible topics include but are not limited to:
·
Philosophical and ethical issues in knowledge creation, distribution and
access, and presentation
·
Ethical foundations of knowledge management: ethical concepts, frameworks, and principles
·
Ethical issues in KM applications:
engagement of the organization in the ethical use of KM systems
·
Ethics in system design
·
Ethical issues of knowledge economies and societies (e.g., digital
divide, brain drain, outsourcing, downsizing, cultural impact of the knowledge
economy)
·
Ethical issues of Knowledge and Power
·
Lessons from ethical codes of established professions
