Tsunami modeling

The shallow water equations are being used to model long-wave propagation and tsunami run-up on topography. The main algorithmic issue is the development of a robust high-resolution method that handles arbitrary topography and bathymetry, and the moving interface between wet and dry regions. This work is being done with David George. (PhD 8/06 - now a Mendenhall postdoc at the USGS Cascades Volcano Observatory working on debris flow problems)
