As lead product manager in the Macintosh Business Unit (MacBU), Mary Starman is responsible for managing the worldwide marketing of Microsoft’s Office for Mac and Virtual PC for Mac product lines. The Macintosh Business Unit at Microsoft is a leading developer of software and online products for the Macintosh platform. The group is composed of more than 160 full-time Mac product experts and is dedicated to creating innovative software for Mac customers worldwide.

 

Starman has worked at Microsoft for more than eight years. Before joining the MacBU, she drove the worldwide communications strategy for Microsoft’s Mobile Devices division, launching the Pocket PC and SmartPhone platforms.  Prior to that she managed communications strategies for all consumer hardware in the Home and Retail Division, where she worked on product such as the ActiMates®, SideWinder® and IntelliMouse® Explorer products.

 

Starman has also worked with a variety of other technology companies, including FutureSoft, TechWave, ImageX, Adobe and Onyx Software, providing strategic counsel on product messaging and media relations. In addition, she spent three years working with World Concern, an international relief and development agency, where she managed the strategy and implementation of all marketing activities and events.
