Research in the News
Research with the project CampaignAudit.org appeared in the news during the 2004 election campaign. In Washington State, the race for governor was so close that the margin of victory was much less than the margin of error for the vote counting process. We also reported on the Electoral College votes (Iowa, New Hampshire, and New Mexico) and US Senate races (Florida, Kentucky, and South Dakota) where the margin of victory for the winning candidate was less than the margin of error for the vote counting process. Important news blogs (Adam Curry, Scienceblog), regional news media (Komo1000 Radio, King5, Kiro7 news, NPR affiliate, Spokane Spokesman-Review, Tacoma News Tribune) and national news media (USAToday) covered the research. They interviewed me, and reported on stories generated by our weekly email briefings on the use of communication technologies by the political campaigns, including our white paper Within The Margins.
