Forecast of surface particle movement on the coast

This movie shows the most recent forecast of salinity over the whole model domain and three-day tracks of particles released from grids at two locations on the coast: the Juan df Fuca Eddy to the north and Heceta Bank to the south. The close ups on the right show these two regions, with the last day of each track in red. These transport patterns are one of a number of information sources, including ongoing monitoring for toxins and microbial species of concern, that WA and OR state agencies use in making management decisions that reduce the risk of toxic shellfish poisoning.
