Check Peter Loud’s map website for Indonesia, the Philippines and other maps. Omnimap has a huge selection of maps from all over the world (to purchase). The Perry-Castañeda Library at the University of Texas maintains a good selection of on-line maps, world-wide, contemporary and historical.

The Indo-Pacific Prehistory Association holds conferences and produces a journal of archaeology in Asia and the Pacific.

A few of the websites covering Pacific archaeology include the University of Oregon, the Oceanic Archaeology Lab at UC Berkeley, and the Australian National University. This website also has some information on Indonesian archaeology. For more about Micronesia, Felicia Beardsley’s Micronesian Diary includes some archaeology and this website has great info on traditional Micronesian navigation.  The University of Guam has an extensive list of links for all sorts of information on Micronesia.

For SE Asia, The University of Pennsylvania Museum offers a Southeast Asian Archaeology Bibliographic Database and this website: http://www.abia.net/ has a searchable art and archaeology index.  Our UW library has a Southeast Asia section offering reference service and the UW Southeast Asia Center offers interesting lectures and events. See also my links page on my Indonesia archaeology website for other links, not all archaeological.

The journal Nature maintains an excellent site about the early hominid finds from Flores, with links to news and scientific articles.

This UNEP Islands site has basic informational and statistical data on islands around the world. It covers things like geology, basic environmental data, geography, and population, as well as indices for isolation and human impact.

For info on Thor Heyerdahl and his theories, check out the Kon Tiki Museum website.
