The course develops writing skills through the analysis of excerpted literary models, short stories, and poetry. Students write the equivalent of five or more 2-4 page compositions (first draft and two revisions of each), trying out their hand at several types of creative and analytical writing: autobiography, literary criticism, imitation of literary models, interview, original story, original poem, translation, etc. The study of grammar, syntax, and vocabulary building are on-going components of the reading, listening, and writing assignments. Spanish 301 and 302 are prerequisites for this course, summer included.. (The series must be taken in sequence.)
