The course develops writing skills through the analysis
of excerpted literary models, short stories, and poetry. Students
write the equivalent of five or more 2-4 page compositions (first draft
and two
revisions of each), trying out their hand at several types of
creative and analytical writing: autobiography, literary criticism,
imitation of literary models, interview, original story, original
poem, translation, etc. The study of grammar, syntax, and vocabulary
building are on-going components of the reading, listening, and
writing assignments. Spanish 301 and 302 are prerequisites for this
course, summer included.. (The series must be taken in
sequence.)
